Meet Ramesh Nambiar, an Experienced India Tour Guide

Explore India with Ramesh
I am Ramesh Nambiar, a Government of India Approved Incredible India Guide with more than 35 years of experience in Indian travel. My professional journey has taken me across India's historic cities, wildlife landscapes, cultural regions and the Himalayas, as well as to Nepal, Bhutan and other international destinations.
I began my career in December 1989 with Tiger Tops Mountain Travel India & Nepal, better known as Tiger Mountain. What started as an early opportunity in the travel industry became the foundation of a career built around people, places, exploration, culture and the many stories that make India such a fascinating country to experience.
Today, I work with travellers, institutions and production teams who want to experience India with context, personal attention and a deeper understanding of the places they visit.
Where It All Began: Tiger Tops
What I Bring to Every Journey
- My approach to guiding is based on first-hand experience.
- I don't believe that a meaningful journey should simply consist of moving from one famous landmark to another.
- India has layers of history, culture, architecture, religion, food, traditions and everyday life. Understanding those layers can transform the way a traveller experiences a destination.
- Over the years, I have developed knowledge across many parts of India and the Himalayas, including Delhi, Rajasthan, Agra, Varanasi, Ladakh, Sikkim, Himachal Pradesh, Kerala and other regions.
- I have also worked with travellers exploring Nepal and Bhutan.
- My role is not simply to point out what you are seeing. I want to help explain why a place matters, how its story developed and how it connects with the wider culture and history of the region.

My Journey into Indian Travel
My career in travel began soon after my time at Jawaharlal Nehru University. In December 1989, I joined Tiger Tops Mountain Travel India & Nepal, where I spent almost seven years.
It was an extraordinary place to begin a career.
Tiger Tops brought together wildlife, adventure, hospitality and Himalayan exploration. During those years, I had the opportunity to work alongside people with remarkable knowledge of the Himalayas and wildlife conservation, including Colonel Jimmy Roberts, Dr Lute Jerstaad and Dr Charles McDougal.
The experience exposed me to a side of travel that went far beyond sightseeing. I learned the importance of preparation, local knowledge, logistics, responsible engagement with wildlife and, above all, understanding the places and people behind a journey.
